Yes, I realize this is an ancient post. My EBD is slow. Spent today experimenting with different values for R9. I figured I would solder a wire and unsolder one side of R9, then use the setup to try different resistors. First value was higher resistance and slowed it down more. I tried 100k and got a chipmunk. But the results were difficult to make sense of. I think the longer wires were interfering with the clock signal.
I can put up with the slow speech, rather than jeopardize this impossible to replace S&T board. But I am still thinking about soldering a higher value resistance on top of (in parallel to) R9.
My -5 is running a bit low at -4.6. Input to the v regulator is -14. Am wondering if I should change out the regulator. Will low -5 cause the slow speech?

    Here is the original speed.

I replaced R9 with 200K and it was too slow.

I tried 100K. Mr EBD on Helium.

I did not have a resistor between 150k and 100K. So I back calculated
what I would need in parallel. I tried 1 M. Works well.
