My LW3 was sitting for about 3 years. The backbox lamps only about half were lit since I bought it 15 years ago, When I started working on another issue and whenUPDATE
I powered it on, none of the GI lamps in the backbox lit. There is very limited information on any schematics on these lamps.
I tested and have power going to the lamps, so I thought it may be a ground issue. After spending considerable time on this, I believe the wires to these lamps come from and return to the Power Supply pins 3 and pin 9 at connector J9. I am assuming pin 3, which is the green wire is the ground wire.
It is a brand new power board, so all the fuses and board connections are new, and the connector housing seems to snap snug onto the pins.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
ISSUE SOLVED, but I will post what I found.
I thought he wires for the backlight went from the PS directly to the backbox light. I was wrong, they both go into and out of the PPB board and are the same color wire in and out. At first I thought it was the connector since it appeared to be burned, but upon disassembly, the connectors looked fine. I replaced them all anyways. What I ultimately found was that three wires on the connection were on the wrong pin positions.
Further wire tracing found that four unrelated wires were also on the wrong connectors on the power supply board. The wrong pins on the PS, most likely did not present any problems, since they all put out the same voltage. but I corrected them because when you are tracing something, you expect wires to be where they belong.
A LOT OF TIME SPEND for backlights not working, but this teaches me a lesson to check ALL wires to be sure they are where they belong.
