• Gottlieb EM problem

Last year I was able to buy one of my all-time favorite Gottlieb pinball machines: Majorettes. This year, having all this time in quarantine, I am finally getting up the courage to work on it. This is my first real attempt at fixing a pinball machine. I got the easy stuff taken care of first, like getting it to stay lit, cleaning the play field, changing out bulbs and rubbers, etc. But now I'm stymied. For those who know the game there are two sets of bumpers, red and yellow, numbered 1 to 5. The bumpers are supposed to light up if they are hit in numerical order. Once all the red and/or yellow bumpers are lit, then that lights and activates certain add-a-ball specials. Well, the bumpers don't light at all. Consequently, no specials. The only ways I can get an extra ball are by a high score or by going over the four rollovers at the top of the playfield. Other than this issue, the machine plays pretty well. If anyone cares to help out a novice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Anything going in sequence has a disk with contracts that rotates.
I'd guess one disk for each color.
So, look for 5 position disks.
Hitting the bumper should activate the solenoid on the disk.

Good deal picking up a Majorettes. There's a few looking for that machine..
Its been a while since I went through mine, but I'm thinking there's a
holding relay for each Pop Bumper for it to be lit. Also in their Relays
I'm thinking there's a set of contacts that run in series to complete the
circuit so the top Target when hit will add a ball. I'll take a look and
    confirm tomorrow.

Once the #5 Bumper is lit, an armature switch in the it's Bank
Relay makes and completes the circuit to the upper Target and outer
rollovers switches to get an extra ball. Once the extra ball is added,
the Bank resets. You'll wnt to check the Armature Switches. It rides
off of the #5 Yellow and #5 Red Relays' coil plates and makes once they're
energized. Could be a Score Motor switch, but I'd first check the armature
    switches..

Under the playfield (about center right) you'll see two Bank Relays.
One for the Red, and one for the Yellow. Each will have a separate set
of switches that make contact when the #5 Relays are in the energized
position. That is known as the armature switch. Good luck..

Hello Mike - According to the schematic the "P" relay has a red / green wire going to it, but first you should start by cleaning all the contacts on the relay banks otherwise you're just going to drive yourself crazy.

Yea, I initially misunderstood the problem. Along with the Pop Bumper
switches, it's make/break switches in the Yellow and Red Relays in the
Relay Banks under the playfield that complete the circuit to each Relay.

Thank you all for the helpful replies. I am narrowing things down. If I manually activate the actuator arms then the bumper lights come on as do the specials once all the bumpers are lit. However, this will not happen by the ball hitting a bumper, only by manually activating the actuator arms. So, it seems that power is not getting to either the red or yellow relay banks. I have cleaned the Jones plugs till they glisten. Any suggestions?
