    Hi All,

Working on a Stargate, Gottlieb system 3. No DMD. Here is a video on power up: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16SLt6WxaBFptazN5ogFyREKgPEXx_02_/view?usp=sharing

I believe it is the U8 GAL chip on dmd comtroller.
Let me know what you think.

The +5 volts is good. It also has the version 4 on main controller.

    Thanks,

    John

Not sure it is the GAL, have you monitored the outputs using a logic
probe? If some or all are dead and yet there are in puts then it might
    be bad.

I do sell licensed copies of the GAL.

    https://flippers.com/catalog_oc/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2802&search=gal

Note that if the video board isn't working then the MPU won't fire up
    either.

We also service System 3 boards using the Gottlieb test fixture and
    EPROMs...

    Hi John!
What output logics are you taking about? I do have a scope I can use. I have manual.
Also, all my voltages are good on DMD, DMD controller, and MPU.
    I hate shotgunning a problem.

Assuming you have the schematics check the U8 GAL outputs and inputs (as
shown on the schematics) for outputs.

Shotgunning is rarely very good, except possibly recaps on tube and
early transistor amps and the odd monitor chassis.

Ok, here is LED status on mpu:

with everything hooked up: flashes 8 times real quick, pauses, then repeats with DMD board disconnected: flashes 4 times real quick, pauses, then repeats with DMD and driver board disconnected: flashes about 30 times real quick, pauses, then flashes 4 times, pauses, then repeats the 4 flashes

I'm going to look at U8 in/outputs today...

    pin 1- nice square wave
    pin 2 - nothing
    3 R/W- pulse , kinda shitty
    4 not used
    5 A11 shitty pulse signal
    6 A12 same as above
    7 A13 same as above
    8 A14 same as above
    9 A15 same as above

    11 DE pulse shitty
    12 DCLK high signal
    13 A18 low signal
    14 IPORT low signal
    15 OPORT low signal
    16 FIXED low signal
    17 RAM low
    18 ROM low
    19 CRTC low
