    Hello All,

    Whats the secret recipe of getting an ansi in place of the message header that comes with Mystic BBS? I have an ansi im going to use, I put in to: from: etc.. with proper codes (I believe) But when I put ansi in everything goes haywire, the from: to: etc.. doesnt show usernames and messages at bottom are cutoff or seem to be missing or only showing a few lines. Any help or point me in the right direction would be awesome!! Thanks!!

    The file you are looking for is ansimrd.ans in the /mystic/themes/default/text directory.. That's where you are gonna change that header file... :)

    yes, thats what Im workning on. I see on some BBS they usually will have a ansi there, a little picture on the left and then maybe do a nice border around the to: from: etc... Someone did point me in the right direction. On mystic BBS its the ansimrd.ans file. But Im tinkering with it, cuz I set it up, and then when I logon its all scrambled and messes up the messages, another project. :}

    Whats the secret recipe of getting an ansi in place of the message
    header that comes with Mystic BBS?

    :P Its a doozy; theres two ways to do it. First, you can use TheDraw in DOSBox and load up the ANSI you wanna use. THEN, you turn on animation mode and meticulously add your needed !XX codes in the areas needed. This can get tedious, because you have to add the !XX codes that set the allowed characters so a user name/message area name doesn't overwrite any ANSI that it shouldn't...

    The second, more proper, way is to use the Mystic !XX codes in the correct way. If you pull up the Mystic wiki on display codes, you'll see that there are display codes that allow you to do much more than just display like.. !UN, or whatever.

    I *believe* I have examples of both ways and I don't mind sharing my files for you to see... maybe some other sysops will share, too - I know that The Godfather, from The Underground bbS was trying to show me the 'correct' way, but he was hacking it together, too. :P

    i have found that a lot of the ansi draw programs nowadays aren't that good so i always have gone back to THEDRAW LOL

    everything i've done on pablodraw or any of the others never displays right, yet when i do the same thing in thedraw it's not a problem LOL

    as far as the files yea, havent looked at what file synchronet uses for the header, but if you log into mine they're like a blue theme.

    one of these days i may pay someone to come up with some decent ansi... i'm not creative like that lol

    yeah, I was lucky enough to get some ansi work done from some other users. I am definitely not an artist. Thanks for responding though, I think I might need to take a look at TheDraw again, I have been using Mobius and Pablodraw.

    Hopefully its okay for me to post this on here. I have nothing to do with the website and make nothing from them. But I have purchased from them and also downloaded the free ansis to mess around with.

    Have you taken a look at www.ansigarden.com. This is a web site dedicated to making ansi for BBS's. There is even free ansis on there. And I would say for teh most part the prices he asks are not much. Obviously, the draw back, would be anyone can use those ansis.

    FYI, when I purchased my ansis that I purchased there, I had an issue getting them instantly, I sent a message thru the web site and Luciano got back to me very quickly and made sure I recieved my purchases.

    Theres many different themes on there also.!!
