With the recent discussion about OS/2 here, I was curious to search eBay to see if there are any copies of OS/2 there. I see this listing for a small sealed package with the IBM and OS/2 logos on it, with wings and the text "Take off now with OS/2". The seller just lists it as "IBM OS/2 1994" and says he doesn't know what it's for. I don't think this is the full operating system, as I've never seen this before. It looks like it might be some kind of promo material, but I'm not sure. Doe sanyone know what it is?

I saw a lot of listings on eBay for OS/2 Warp 3, but during my quick check today, I didn't see any for Warp 4 or newer.

I might be interested in checking out ArcaOS, though I'm not sure I'd use it enough to justify buying it.

That's not what the normal packaging for OS/2 looks like. I'd say that
it's more of a program for OS/2, than the operting system it's self.

If you go to google and do a "Image" search for ibm os/2 warp packaging,
you'll get a lot of hits.. The first two images that came up on my
search, had pictures of the "Red spine" and "Blue spine" versions.

Blue spine = with windows 3.1 support.
Red spine = without windows 3.1 support. (It relies on you already haing
the win 3.1 floppies.)

I'm familiar with the normal OS/2 packaging. That's why I thought that eBay listing looked a little odd. The weird thing is that even though the listing includes photos of the front & back of the package, the package doesn't really seem to say what it actually is.

I'm sitting on a copy of OS/Who.. its a pre warp version, not sure the numbering, I've never actually used it, so far as I know its a virgin.
Manuelas and all. Friend of mine used to work for IBM.. some kind of tech role, he got it cheep as part of an employee thing I believe.

Perhaps. But the package doesn't seem to mention a product name or any description of what it is.

All this talk of OS/2 and ArcaOS is intriguing.

I've never really used OS/2, but I did try installing Warp v4 when I was
at Polytech in the mid 90s. My recollection is that it kept crashing and
I remember reinstalling it several times and gave up.

I don't remember specifics, if it was hardware, or if there was a device
the drivers were crashing for, or whatever, but I never really touched
OS/2 after that as I went down the Linux route.

But having a version that'll run on modern hardware sounds interesting..

I might be interested in checking out ArcaOS, though I'm not sure I'd

It's interesting, but is it US$130 interesting?

But these discussions here are really good and are a good show of the
community supporting it.
