Probably the most common one used across the planet is "Googling".

Actually, "Googling" is probably one of the more valid ones. How many people Google something, using a different search engine like Bing? ;)

I still feel like that sounds a bit odd, but maybe that's because I started using the internet in 1995, several years before Google existed. I still often like to say "searching" or "online search" etc. because Google isn't the only search engine around. It seems people sometimes forget there are other search engines out there.

I sort don't use "Googling" either. Likely because I to remember when they would print Internet Yellow Pages of sorts. Not to mention I remember using tings like Yahoo and Altavista to do searches.

As a side note, I'm not sure why people started to say "Interwebs". I always think it makes the person sound dumb. I know that most people think of websites as the Internet but there is still a whole lot more out there that's not part of a website.

    "I sort don't"?
    "I to remember"?

In the 90s I also used to use Yahoo and Altavista, as well as SavvySearch, Lycos, sometimes Ask Jeeves and others.

It's a joke. It's not that people are being dumb. I don't remember where it came from, but I remember people starting to say "interwebs" as a sort of joke term.

Also, I remember someone (apparently Ted Stevens) made an analogy that the itnernet is like a "series of tubes". So sometimes now I might say "intertubes".

Yup, ditto here. I remember Webcrawler was one of my favourite search
    engines beofore Google came out.

I think I've fallen into saying "google" for online searching now. I wonder if Duck Duck Go takes off if we'll all eventually starting "ducking" for things online... lol

Well that's thing. I have known too many smart people that seem to be unaware that it's a joke. They seem to think it's the correct term. Hence my comment on it.
