If you don't like someone's posts, you have the power to not let that bother you. :P

I can't believe you posted this. You're such a jerk. :)

Yep, sometimes I have days like that. It seems to happen sometimes, and sometimes when we least expect it.

One thing Fidonet got right was their two rules of conduct.
1. Don't be excessively annoying.
2. Don't be excessively annoyed.

Good rules. Sometimes it can be difficult to not be excessively
annoyed, but having some perspective often helps. :)
Very true. But sometimes..... is the person who says something to an annoying post/poster *ALWAYS* the one that's wrong? That's how it seems
to be interpreted. In my opinion, *SOMETIMES* it is CORRECT to say
something to the annoying poster. Otherwise, it just continues forever.

I feel like Iª€™ve said this before, but Iª€™ll repeat. Itª€™s
not what you say, itª€™s how you say it. You, Nelgin, and
sometimes others are especially aggressive and often cruel
towards The Millionaire and Phil.
As if somehow youª€™re all special or the echo/IRC police or
whatever. But instead of using ignore/twitlist, you guys lash out
at these people and muck up boards with useless messages.
Does TM and Phil annoy other people? Of course they must. Do
those people feel entitled to be unkind? Nope.
Okay, so to summarize your response

Very interested to hear other viewpoints on this.
I agree, though saying something to an annoying poster should always be done tactfully at first. The person who is annoying may not be aware
that they are.
The frequent random one line questions do wear thin though, and doing
that just to see replies and get your jollies from that doesn't make for
a great message network.
If conversation on fsxNet is dominated around questions like "Do you like Campbells soup" or "What do you like about raining days" then the whole 'net turns into a farce.
Who are they annoying though? What might be annoying to one person isn't necessarily annoying to another, and who here can speak for everyone?
Do you know that this person has that motivation for posting them? If
that was the motivation, perhaps they shouldn't post them. I don't know that it is though.
How do you start a conversation? Random topic starters could invite healthy conversation about said topic, something we didn't think about discussing before.
I don't think it turns into a farce, what puts a net on the nose for me
is deliberate nastiness - which is sometimes disguised as sarcasm, sometimes not.
If one doesn't want to talk about campbell's soup or rainy days, they
are free to hit next - and while the same could be said about nasty
posts, nasty posts shouldn't be posted in the first place.

I'm not sure who actually got derailed here this time though.. While I
can agree with G at times the Mullionaire can be highly irritating...
and you don't know why this is so... some one might be having a bad pain week, that can make you a lot less tolerant of all sorts of bullshit. Or some other reason.. Neither party is wholly innocent.

Has Phil even posted on FsxNet? I don't recall ever seeing him post here.

No, but I was trying to illustrate a pattern of behavior beyond just TM.
I know; I was just curious where you've seen some of the other posters be mean to Phil if he hasn't posted here.

IRC. It's weird.
I dunno if there's some sort of thing where they insulted their mothers or something, but it's straight up bullying by a handful of people. But like I said, maybe there's a history where he's done something other than be annoying.

Its a poor illustration if nobody or virtually nobody knows who you're talking about.

The post didnª€™t have you in the To field now, did it?

Who the heck is Phil? The only one I know is, Lucky Phil, who usually pulls one or two at the races, but if he's been drinking, then tonight he's out of luck. :P

Sorry, I couldn't help it!

This sort of nastiness is way outside the spirit of fsx. Knock it off.
In this case it appears to be that G has been given the short end
though, we had a one liner from Mull, a somewhat snarky reply, and then
a pile of G response for some reason, if G's reponse was left alone it'd probably have all just gone under the carpet... instead it's just become perpetuated..
'Given' the short end? Don't you mean 'taking' it? (o_O)
There is a reason that I finally decided to make use of a twit filter. I
But if people are getting into a flame war again, then that decision was the right one. May it never have to be made again!

Not sure where you got yer English, somewhere its a third language
maybe? :P I meant what I said... given the short end of the stick... jibbed... hard done by...

Enjoy it, we still dream of twat filters over here....

This one was more of a smolder than a flame... pretty one way pile onto
G for a non-flame appropriately snarky comment... go figure...
I've got my English from the Queen's Land, sir. Not exactly a third language.
IMHO, he's earned it. I won't be shedding a tear.

Each to their own... IMHO he was on the receiving end of what everyone
was up in arms about...
