I have ProBoard (my old BBS from the 90's) running at ScoobysDoo.ddns.net:2023 and upgraded to the latest freeware release.

Just checked this out.. looks cool!

I think I've got irex / squish and proboard working together now, but
haven't setup fsxnet on it - i'm a little bit concerned about the no
    MSGID upsetting the threading enthusiasts.

I thought about trying to fix it (adding msgids that is, but there's also
an off by 3 alignment on the message header) but not all of the source
files are available on the repo (it looks as though some might be
copyrighted and only the .OBJ files are there).

Still debating on whether to finish setting things up or just switching
it off, it's been fun so far..

    Hey

Is anyone playing with the freeware proboard on github?

I think dan was at one point.. just wondering if there are any issues
    with it?

I've got it setup just for fun on Win10 32 bit and it seems to be working
ok, but it says my first call was in 1912. I was thinking about setting
it up with squish and irex... but don't want to invest too much time if
    it won't play nice.

Dates do seem to have an issue but everything else is working. I pull in USENET with Irex, so that's working too.

FWIW, on linux, syncrhonet user editor reports a very odd, pre-1980 date here, too.

Maybe your ctrl/text.dat file is out of date?

At the time, I was playing with 2.17, which was the last one released as freeware by the original author. I couldn't get the one from github to compile, but there were also in the early stages of making changes to it. I haven't tried it since...

I thought all of the date issues were already fixed in there... Maybe not...

The biggest issue that I had heard from people, is it didn't add the MSGID to outbound messages. Everything else seemed to work just fine. :)

That's actually what I ran back in the day. Proboard with Intermail/Allfix/FMail.

They have a release binary now on their git hub page so I didn't have to compile it.. I'm not sure I would have bothered if I had to - getting old
stuff to compile is not usually something I'm good at.

I thought all of the date issues were already fixed in there... Maybe
    not...

I know they mention birthdays now have 4 digits (and they do).. perhaps
this first call thing was just an oversight.

Ah, I can imagine that would get under some people's skin.

Cool! I used EzyCom mostly, but I did have a short stint using proboard,
one of the other BBSes in Toowoomba used proboard back in the day though
I forget what it was called.

That should be a simple hack, searching for that 19 on the start of dates and changing to 20 without changing any code. The other thing is put a bug report in or maybe look in to fixing it in the code that's there (if it's there).
