I think I've got PMS (Pecker Malfunctioning Syndrome)...and E.D. for me is not just for "electronic doofus" (hi hi). If you want a file on a
packet net where E.D. was the topic of discussion, point your web browser to https://www.theweatherwonder.com/elk.htm and look for "The E.D. Net".

I should introduce you to the guy who keeps spamming my email with viagra ads.

Sorry for the delay in reply...I spent yesterday evening into early
this morning in the ER. Plus, we had thunderstorms here much of
    Friday.

Oh no! I hope everything's OK!

First, we had strong and severe thunderstorms in the area much of the day. Then, I got a phone call from my PCP's nurse. I had been experiencing possible deep vein thrombosis (DVT) symptoms (blood clots in the legs, which can lead to a fatal heart attack or stroke), and it was advised I go to either Urgent Care or the ER...I chose the latter.

    [Story Snip]

Yeah, DVT is nothing to mess with. My brother-in-law's father died from it, about a day after having minor outpatient surgery done. This was about 20 years ago or so.

    DaiTengu

... It was such a lovely day, I thought it was a pity to get up.

Better just to block them with a spam filter. Before Gmail, I used
a utility called Mailwasher and a related one, which I forget the name
of offhand. But, it was great to preview email before opening it or
any links. One thing I do NOT like about Microsoft Edge, is that it
constantly asks if it can "open links". To me, that's just asking for
trouble. My default browser is Firefox...although I've noted that
Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Google Chrome, can take a long time to
load...and they take even longer to navigate Facebook.

As for that net, "you had to be there". :)

I've been using Brave, which is kind of like the 'soft' hard option of chrome browsers. I hate the memory leaks. I really just need to isolate my computer from any networks and run templeOS in my perfect technochappel.

Never mind they devour and share your personal data. Plus, with the addons
to prevent them from doing such, it makes it seem like you're back on dial-up internet.

I talked to Rick, KA2BSM, out of the Germantown, TN (Memphis) area (he
does a lot of work with CERT in that area)...and he said he has heard of
folks who got it on a long flight. They deplaned, and dropped dead in the terminal.

I've since been forced to move to different linux distros across some older hardware. The default firefox browser with no addons has helped remind me how much of a living hell the modern internet is.
