Are any of you playing any video games at present?

I began playing through Mass Effect: Legendary Edition which is a remastered version of the trilogy beginning in 2007 -- I have completed the first game but it took me around 2 months as I don't have as much free time as I used to. I've just began playing Metro: Last Light as I have heard good things about the series and had only completed the original earlier this year. Again, it's the Redux version with enhanced graphics. Seems like developers like to re-release their games for maximum profit!

I'm playing through Skyward Sword HD right now which is an HD re-release of the title originally for the Wii. I bought it back then and just paid for it again (C$80) on the Switch.

I had forgotten a lot of this game, so it's almost like playing through it again for the first time. I glad this time around I don't HAVE to use the motion controls.

... Please don't ask me what the score is. I'm not even sure what the game is.

The videogame industry appears to have as much imagination as the movie industry with their constant remasters and revivals. I have a Switch Lite but I am not the biggest fan of Nintendo games. I did play BOTW and complete it back in '17... I did enjoy it and will consider purchasing the sequel when it is out.

I am the same -- I purchased the Mass Effect trilogy when they were initially released then paid a further 50 USD for the Legendary Edition. I will then buy the Diablo II remake on the Switch next month to play cooperatively with a friend... I obviously purchased that one when first released several decades ago.

No, not at the moment. Can't seem to find the time.. perhaps in the fall.

Nice...Mass Effect, I think I've heard of that game. When I do play, I got hooked on Grand Theft Auto V. Man, that is some next level. I also have Assassins Creed Black Flag that I chip away at... and I have Fall Out 4 ready to go.

I never got hooked to the Grand Theft Autos. I remember the 4th one glorified the gansta' lifestyle too much for my liking, and had this mission about stealing a harvester from a bunch of "fascist survivalists" (aka. common farmers).

It def glorifies the gangster life.. and I can see why some may find it appealing.. Its a fun time waster really. The game is really involved for my liking.. I just want to get in and out without feeling like I need to complete missions.. thats a sure way to get sucked into some sort of addiction.

Played the latest online for a while, but only because my sons were playing. After one of them stopped cause his xbox died (and he was moving on to
VR and such) and the other son moved and changed jobs and stopped playing
cause it's a different time than I can play, I turned off my subscription.

IOW, I did it to spend 'chat time' with my sons.

I have noticed a similar trend with browser games. People starts playing because they want to play the game, then keeps playing because their friends are there despite the fact they have learnt to hate the gameplay :-)

Well, I play 'live' games too - board games, etc. and it's mainly for
the social aspect. I'll play a game that's not my favorite with people
that I want to be with, but will turn down my favorite game if it's
    with a jerk. :-)

With games that are social in nature (such as trading and economic games) I can get that. I certainly make a rule not to play games with people I would not share any other sort of fun with. Half the game is talking with friends.

With games that are brainy strategic or tactical exercises, the social aspect vanishes, because everybody turns off their social part of their brains while the math part runs hot. Nobody dares talk because they are too busy trying to guess their chances of shipping cotton through a given port before other players do it, and how both success and failure would affect the final score.

I guess I'm too social for games like that then. LOL

I play X-Wing Miniatures (well, I did pre-Covid - haven't touched it lately) and I don't like playing with people that are in it to win it no matter
what. I'd prefer to lose a GOOD game with a GOOD opponant where we BOTH
have fun than to just win and it be a job.

    But that's just me. :-)

The point of super brainy games in which everybody is deadpan serious, with their neurons quietly
burning through options and possible plays, is that once the last shipment of cotton makes it into
the market, everybody smiles and says they have had a great time, hahahahaha

It is not a matter to win at all costs as much as the game being engaging because it sucks you in.
"Random" wargames are engaging in a completely different way... it is the spontaneous events which
make them funny. "So your Megatank of Death rolled a 1 and now is stuck in the mud, hahahahaha your
west flank offensive is stuck. Hahahahaha that's the face your mom had last night!"

You just don't think your plays in Warhammer the same way you do in Brass, because in Warhammer a
random goblin fanatic may pop up God knows were and trash any both ofn the players at the whim of a
die, so you just roll with it :-)

Yeah - to each his own. :-) I like a brainy game, but not one that's
    ALL brainy. :-)
