• Colin Powell dies aged 84 of complications from Covid-19

From Ogg@VERT/CAPCITY2 to All on Monday, October 18, 2021 09:07:00
" Colin Powell dies aged 84 of complications from Covid-19 his
family have said on Facebook (CNN)

" Powell was formerly the first African-American US secretary
of state and passed away Monday morning from coronavirus
complications. He was fully vaccinated, according to his FB
    page.

So.. here's one a "vulnerable" citizen, double-vaxx'd, develops
    covid, and dies anyway.

Actualy this is my big issue. That they are selling a bill of goods that vaccines are 95% effective and
people is taking them and acting as if they were 100% immune to COVID, Ebola, Asteroids and Raeggeton.

I have had pets die to diseases they were vaccinated against and I have gone through supposedly
erradicated diseases against I was vaccinated, so I know better than believe such claims
    of night impossible high effectivity.

The difference with this COVID vaccine is that when you have three dogs contract a particular disease and
one of them die to it after taking the particular vaccine, it is seen as a reasonable basis to question
the effectivity of that particular batch of vaccines (to the point the lab can get in trouble), whereas
if you say the information you get suggests the COVID vaccines are about as efficient as flu shots
instead of the alleged 95%, you get labeled as a raving lunatic and anti-vaxxer and a fear monger. And
you need to have your medical license revoked.

I'm always skeptical of any headline that says "<famous> person dies from COVID".

Too many people have "died from COVID" when they didn't die from COVID -
    they died *with* COVID.

In this case, the "complications" part of the statement is the weasel
word. If he had died from "complications due to pneumonia", the
    headline would be different.

Partially it could be. It does not help that we also have a government
that, at one point earlier this year, told us that vaccinated persons don't need to wear a mask. Because the vaccination has proven not to be even 95% effective against Delta, that was a dumb government issue.

The vaccines are only that effective against the original strain. Last I
heard was Pfizer was 19% effective against Delta. It was obvious due to experience with other flu strains that there will be mutations and
adaptations that are more resistant or have become harder to detect by the immune system. This all should be expected and dealt with like how we already
handle the flu, and produce newer strain-specific vaccines.

IIRC, it was a question asked, not an executive command to look into something. Considering the relative barbarism in medicine up until very recently, as similar ideas were often tried in the 1800s and even early
1900s, look at x-ray experiments in the early 1900s even. The questions
aren't *THAT* stupid for a layperson.

Also, there were a couple companies at that point actually looking into
UV light treatments. It's funny, people can lay aside Biden's babbling,
but can't even stop to consider someone may misinterpret an article or
two in hundreds of daily briefing issues.

Also, for the record, Fauci took the mic plenty, misrepresented plenty
of facts and lied before congress on more than one occasion. Instead of
lying because of supply issues, should have just suggested using general
face covering, such as a folded over bandana, scarf or home-made cloth
mask with two or more layers of tight knit fabric. While not N95
effective, would have been at least some help and pacified others.
Also, general advice on social distancing and shutting down larger even centers probably a good idea as well. That would have been better advice
while figuring things out while China was spreading its' own false
    narrative, state propaganda.

if the paint is fresh it should come off pretty easy.

bright lights that turn brighter with movement help a lot.

Jumping in... my house (inside of property wall) was tagged last night
with spray paint. Didn't think something like this would actually
happen, given it's next to a higher traffic street, with lots of police traffic. Now I won't hear the end of it from Stacy until we get
security cameras outside. She hasn't seen it yet, but will soon enough.

I recently bought a Raspberry Pi Zero W and a IR camera to go with it as a project. We've had some mostly childish BS going on lately. Anyway, I
learned that there is a pretty neat OS out there called motionEyes that is
open source and runs on the Pi. I also learned that these IR cameras are really only good for indoor use. If you have to cover the lens, to keep
the elements out, and it has built-in IR lights, the lights reflect off of
the cover and all you see at night is a purple blur.

Works great during the day, though.

There are some IP cameras that are not too expensive, that work at night
and can be put outdoors. As long as the follow the standard protocol, they will also work with motionEyes. I am planning to get one or two and
experiment some, then maybe get a few more.

Game tracking cameras are a quick fix or temporary situation regarding observing activity in an area. Place them on a tree if possible otherwise spray paint them to match whatever they are mounted on.

game cams also sometimes work better than wifi security cams. i have arlo cams and they crap out all the time when they are uploading video and more activity happens. also they need lateral movement to detect.

you can get gamecams that you can walk by with your phone and view vids and pics, too. they have their own wifi network.

i'm thinking of getting out for my garage that is facing an alley. i want to snap license plates of all the cars that drive by and see the shit goes on at night.
