I just got screwed yet again on Ebay/Paypal. Ebay employees the bad sellers and paypal takes your money for them. I don't have a facebook or twitter account with thousands of followers but I'm going to try and reach out to the few people I know in BBS Land. Watch who you buy from on Ebay. Ebay and Paypal do not monitor bad sellers until it's too late.. Especially if you buy something for under 100 bucks. As a person living on a fixed income in an adult home 100 bucks is a fortune to me. But Ebay/PayPal only want the big players. So watch yourself. If you can buy used stuff at your local Salvation Army please do that. Don't give your money to the likes of Ebay/Paypal. That's all for now.

I've been buying and selling on eBay and using PayPal for years, in fact pretty much from day one when each was launched and only had 1 bad experience that I can remember. Its a rule to check the feedback ratings of the users you buy from before you buy. And, PayPal is great with their fraud prevention and always good on getting your money back. I use PayPal and Square in my computer/IT business daily, no issues every.

When I use to do Online Gamers Escoritng, the platform took 10%, and paypal took 1% if you wanted the cash sent to debit. When my returns were only over 20 or so bucks, that was rough.

I've had chats with a few sellers on ebay. Sounds like it's tough to sell on ebay. I've never sold on ebay so I wouldn't know. If everyone is so unhappy why are we using it? Ebay has no competetion?

Well, there's Etsy and Craigslist and some other similar services, but not many of them are frequent for tech or auto.

I've had a quick look at Etsy. I wasn't happy with the signup process. Craigslist is mostly pickup and very little shipping options. In my old neighborhood there were tons of yard sales back in the day. Do they still have those? I'd imagine people are uptight about strangers checking out their stuff. It's hard to find second hand shit these days. I've picked up some great guitars really cheap at yard sales. People had no idea what they were selling. I'd hear "My Son moved out and left his guitar so I'm selling it" They had no idea what a Fender Strat was. :-) I got a netbook on ebay today. It's not at my house yet but it's on it's way. I like seeing that. Your order is ON ITS WAY! lol

When I use to do Online Gamers Escoritng, the platform took 10%, and payp took 1% if you wanted the cash sent to debit. When my returns were only o or so bucks, that was rough.

Ebay is engineered in such a way that it is only profitable to sell there if you have a HIGH turnover of articles. If you do, you can make decent money.

If you want to make a casual sale, you are screwed.

Ebay has no real competition at this point. Every other auction site I have checked is a wasteland compared to Ebay.

Well there are specialist sites which you could consider "ebay for houses" or "ebay for guns" that may be worth a look (at least here) but they are not really an Ebay replacement.

I've been selling on ebay everyday for years. It's very simple. In fact, since midnight today I've completed 15 sales, all paid.
